Located beneath the W Union Square (201 Park Ave. South; at 17^th Street), Lilium’s seductive, subterranean vibe, representing the dark, mysterious feel of downtown New York, was designed by Gulla Jonsdottir of G+Design, and inspired by the intricate look of a cave of wild lilies. The newly redesigned 1,600 sq. ft. interior features a twisted metal ceiling that cascades down the walls and complements the sculptural black lilies. Renowned artist Scot Brown created this metalwork over eight weeks using 4,000 lbs. of steel. Other key elements of the space include the mesmerizing video installation featuring works from notable and emerging artists, which arises from a mirror behind the contoured wood bar. Curvaceous lines, geometric paneling and gold-tone accents enrich Lilium’s raw structure to evoke a dark feminine energy and brooding intimacy. Lilium offers a menu of traditional cocktails along with a full bar featuring boutique, small-batch spirits. A small bites menu is available from Todd English and features favorites like Grilled Sirloin Skewers, Bistro Fries, Risotto Tater Tots and Assorted Cheeses.
