GERBER GROUP CELEBRATES 20TH ANNIVERSARY
Pre-Eminent Tastemakers Continue to Change Industry Landscape; Launch New Venue This December in New York City

Gerber Group – known as the most influential nightlife proprietor in the world – celebrates its 20th anniversary and announces plans to open Lilium, a fresh reinterpretation of its iconic principal property.

Since the launch of its trademark brand, The Whiskey, at the Paramount Hotel more than 20 years ago, the company’s portfolio has expanded to 25 properties worldwide and continues to revolutionize the nightlife industry with its unique, innovative venues that re-define the ‘hotel bar.’

“In an industry that can be extremely fickle, we are proud to celebrate the lasting success of our brand concepts and look forward to serving our clientele around the globe for at least another 20 years,” says Scott Gerber, Principal of Gerber Group. “Thanks to the continued support from our loyal partners and guests what started as a fun idea has turned into a very successful business.”

The key to Gerber Group’s longevity, and what has always set it apart from competitors, is rebuffing the tendency to create the new “it” bar. Instead, the company concentrates on creating longevity by cultivating a consistent feel – great service, music selection and overall ambiance – in each of its venues while adapting to local demographics. Gerber credits the company’s penchant for retaining long-term employees as a key factor in its success.

“More than half of our executive team has been with the company since the beginning,” says Gerber. “They’re one of the main reasons we’re able to recreate the Gerber Group experience from city to city.”

Gerber Group was founded in 1991, and today, Scott Gerber manages Gerber Group and its 25 venues worldwide. In addition to opening Lilium, the company is opening properties in Paris, New York, San Francisco and Toronto in 2012. Future expansion plans could also bring projects in London, Vienna, Boston and Washington, D.C..

Gerber Group has also partnered with Woodford Reserve to create a special 20th anniversary bourbon that will be available in each of its New York venues from Nov. 14 – 21, 2011. One hundred percent of the proceeds from the sales of select specialty Woodford Reserve cocktails (specific cocktails vary by location) during the week will benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation in honor of National Diabetes Month.

“My father, Jordan Gerber, was the most kind, caring, loving, and generous person I have ever known, especially when it came to children,” says Gerber. “His involvement and support of the JDRF was very important to him, and we are proud to continue to support this important foundation in his honor.”
